Chris Coming Home & Corey Smith Concert

LOTS to catch up on!

Well, Chris came home for a week for Christmas! His flight got into Tallahassee LATE Wednesday night (December 21)...also the day Kylie-bug turned 17 months old! Chris' youngest brother, Alex, and I picked him up from the airport, grabbed a bite to eat at Steak N Shake, and came to my mom's house for the night. Kylie was so excited to see Chris Thursday morning.

Chris' parents bought Chris and me tickets to see Corey Smith in concert so they surprised him with the tickets at dinner at Beef O Brady's on Thursday night. The concert was Friday night (the 23rd) in Duluth (about 250 miles away) so we left at 1:00 pm to drive up there. Thankfully we didn't really hit any bad traffic but cops were everywhere! We got to Duluth, checked into our hotel, changed clothes, and went to the mall right behind our hotel. After the mall, we went to Olive Garden for dinner, dropped the car off at the hotel, and then walked to the concert venue. When I booked the hotel, I made sure it was super close to the venue so we could walk. It was literally two-tenths of a mile away so it took us like 2 minutes to walk there.

The concert was at Wild Bill's, and the tickets were thankfully sitting at a table. The concert was supposed to start at 8:30 pm so we got there about 8:20 pm. However, the concert didn't start until 10:30 pm! The opening act was American Aquarium, and they were really good! Corey Smith finally came out about 11:30 pm and played until about 1:30 am. Colt Ford made an appearance, too. We both had so much fun, and it was great getting to spend so much alone time together. We hadn't gotten to do anything like that since before Kylie was born. We left the hotel about 8:00 am the next morning to drive back home. It was Christmas Eve so we wanted to get back home as early as possible, and we were afraid we might hit bad traffic but the roads were actually pretty clear, and we made it home in about 3 hours and 45 minutes!

Unfortunately Chris was only able to stay a week so I took him to the airport yesterday morning but the great news is that he is finally finished with the Marines in less than 90 days!

Corey!
